An RSS Feed is a process where your site makes available to other users the ability to check for updates that they may be interested in. Typically, a user returns to a site on a regular basis and checks for any updates to a page or any additions. This could take some time if the user was interested in monitoring a large number of items.

RSS is a technology that helps solve this problem. A user installs an RSS Reader on their computer and lists the interesting sites in the software. The RSS Reader checks the sites periodically and then alerts them when a change to the site is found. This saves users considerable amounts of time.

Many of the controls available to your site has the ability to provide your users with an RSS Feed. This includes the Calendar and photos. Sites that are set up to be a document repository can provide an RSS Feed as well. The controls have the ability to provide the links directly on the page that they are located on. Additionally, a separate page can be added to the site that lists all RSS Feeds to the user for them.
